Cyber fraud has become a global issue in recent years,with some Southeast Asian regions becoming hotspots for criminal syndicates.The GTSEZ,due to its economic and geographical characteristics,was once suspected of harboring such activities.However,the Lao government took swift and decisive action to ensure the zone remained safe and legitimate.

2018:First major crackdown–The Lao Ministry of Public Security,in collaboration with the GTSEZ Administrative Committee,launched a full-scale investigation into cybercrime,shutting down several illegal operations.
2021:China-Laos joint action against cyber fraud–The Lao and Chinese police cooperated to dismantle several fraud rings targeting Chinese citizens,leading to the arrest and extradition of key suspects.
2023:Comprehensive cleanup of illegal industries–The GTSEZ imposed strict regulations,enforcing real-name registration for all businesses and conducting thorough background checks on foreign employees.
August2024:ASEAN four-nation law enforcement operation–Laos,China,Myanmar,and Thailand jointly launched a large-scale crackdown in the Golden Triangle region,dismantling several cyber fraud networks and arresting hundreds of criminals.
3）.Deputy PM Vilay:“Zero Tolerance for Cyber Fraud”
