European Youth Leaders explore self-driving&AI firms to meet a hi-tech Guangzhou

Hi-tech,development,and cooperation—these termswere echoed by young entrepreneurs from over10European countries after their first stop on the"Bridge to the Future European Youth Leaders Tourto the Greater Bay Area"on July23.

The event was hosted by Chinese People'sAssociation for Friendship with Foreign Countries,underpinned by Guangdong People's Association forFriendship with Foreign Countries and co-organizedby Guangzhou and other municipal People'sAssociations for Friendship with Foreign Countriesin Guangdong.

Members of the delegation visited two local techfirms:WeRide for autonomous driving and PCI forAI supply chain solutions in Guangzhou to exploreits cutting-edge technology sectors,unveiling themetropolis's modern urban development.

During their visit to WeRide,delegation memberswere grouped to experience the self-driving mini-busin person and spoke with business executives formore details about the products and the company'splans,especially in Europe.

Kirill Perepelica,co-founder of Munch,a Hungariancompany focused on reducing food waste,wasamazed to see self-driving technology thriving inChina.Having been to the U.S.and seen similartechnologies in action in California,he was excitedto take the self-driving bus ride in China.

"It's already operational on ten lines. I can't wait tosee it expanded to hundreds of lines all over theworld," Perepelica expressed his high hopes.

Similarly,co-founder of Intre Vecini,SabinaMihailescu,a Romanian entrepreneur focused onsustainability,was impressed by the transportationtechnologies being utilized by both PCI and WeRide.She and her fellow Romanians believe that theserelevant technologies can be implemented to improvepeople's lives.

Running a startup that deploys AI for airconditioners, Italian Matías Acosta, CEO ofCosysense based in the UK, was particularlyintrigued by the tour due to its strong connection tohis company's field.

Cosysense produces smart seating, IoT sensors, andactuators. As Acosta explained, it was quiteenjoyable for him to see how developments arehappening in Guangzhou and to learn about thestrategic areas that Chinese counterparts areconsidering as part of the future of AI, particularly inapplications for electric mobility and building smartcities.

"It's very important to bring this delegation of youngleaders from the European Union," Jacobo García,President of the Global Youth Leadership Forum,told South.

According to the president,the delegation's visit tothe Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater BayArea aims to understand the development of theChinese economy.

He seeks to highlight the opportunities for thesepromising young entrepreneurs as they prepare toenter the next decade of economic growth,strengthening relationships and forming strategicpartnerships between the EU and China to cooperateand share in the region's development.

In the coming week, the delegation will explore morecities, including Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Shenzhen,and Zhuhai in the GBA.
