From“Using the Pen as a Banner”in the War of Resistance to AI-driven Media Development—The12th Forum on Overseas Chinese Media in Kunming

以“致胜利·话复兴·谋大同”为主题的第十二届世界华文传媒论坛7日在中国云南昆明举行。此次论坛回顾了华文媒体在二战期间的历史担当——以笔为旗，记录真相，支持抗战，也面向未来，聚焦人工智能时代媒体转型的机遇与挑战。来自世界各地的华文媒体代表汇聚滇池，共同探讨如何在全球传播格局深刻变化中寻找新路径。
The12th World Chinese Media Forum,themed“For Victory·For Revival·For Harmony,”was held on September7in Kunming,Yunnan,China.The forum reviewed the historical role of Chinese-language media during World War II—using the pen as a weapon to record truth and support the war of resistance—while also looking ahead to the opportunities and challenges of media transformation in the AI era.Representatives of Chinese-language media from around the world gathered by Dianchi Lake to explore new paths amid profound changes in the global communication landscape.
历史回望：以笔为戈的担当
Looking Back:The Responsibility of Wielding the Pen as a Sword
中国新闻社原社长章新新回顾道，在抗战时期，海外华文媒体突破殖民话语，揭露侵略暴行，在国际社会发声，成为中华文化传播者与和平倡导者。这一段历史，至今仍为今日华文媒体提供精神滋养。
Zhang Xinxin,former president of China News Service,recalled that during the War of Resistance,overseas Chinese media broke through colonial narratives,exposed atrocities of aggression,and made their voices heard internationally,becoming disseminators of Chinese culture and advocates of peace.This history continues to provide spiritual nourishment for Chinese media today.
当下使命：文化交流与社会责任

中国国务院侨务办公室主任陈旭在开幕式上强调，今年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年，华文媒体应继续弘扬和平发展的理念，向国际社会传递合作共赢的声音，推动中外文明交流互鉴。
Chen Xu,Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council,emphasized at the opening ceremony that this year marks the80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.Chinese media should continue to promote the concept of peaceful development,convey the voice of cooperation and mutual benefit to the international community,and advance cultural exchange and mutual learning.
在分论坛上，来自香港、东京、奥克兰等地的媒体人指出，华文媒体不仅服务侨社，也逐渐成为主流社会了解中国文化的重要窗口。如何在短视频、游戏、影视等“新质软实力”的带动下，提升跨文化传播力，成为大家共同关注的话题。
At the sub-forums,media representatives from Hong Kong,Tokyo,Auckland and elsewhere noted that Chinese-language media not only serve overseas communities but are also becoming an important window for mainstream societies to understand Chinese culture.How to enhance cross-cultural communication through new forms of soft power such as short videos,games,and films has become a shared concern.

Efficiency Gains:AI can facilitate smart writing,automated editing,and multilingual translation,greatly improving news production efficiency.

来自加拿大的媒体人指出，AI可让华文报道从“大水漫灌”走向“精准破圈”，借助数据分析与多语言服务，更有效地触达不同文化背景的受众。
A media representative from Canada noted that AI could shift Chinese-language reporting from a“flooding”approach to“precise outreach,”using data analytics and multilingual services to more effectively reach audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds.
北欧视角：全球化中的中国叙事
Nordic Perspective:China’s Narrative in Globalization
从北欧的角度来看，本届论坛的讨论具有普遍价值。如何在AI时代保持新闻公信力，如何让“中国叙事”转化为全球受众都能理解的对话，是全球传媒业共同面临的课题。正如中国人民大学学者杨慧林所言，中国故事需要在差异中找到共鸣，而非单向灌输。
From a Nordic perspective,the discussions of this forum carry universal value.How to maintain credibility in the AI era,and how to transform the“Chinese narrative”into dialogues understandable to global audiences,are shared challenges for the world’s media.As Yang Huilin,a scholar at Renmin University of China,put it,Chinese stories must find resonance amid differences,rather than be delivered as one-way indoctrination.
在论坛闭幕前，中国新闻社还向云南德宏的抗战纪念馆捐赠了《生命线·滇缅公路》画卷，象征着历史记忆与现实责任的延续。
Before the forum concluded,China News Service donated the painting“Lifeline·The Burma Road”to the Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall in Dehong,Yunnan,symbolizing the continuation of historical memory and contemporary responsibility.
